Bedeyia is a k-12 American School also offering the IB Diploma Programme. The school started in 2009 in New Cairo and graduated its first class in 2019. The school is situated in New Cairo in a high socio-economical district. Students and staff mainly come from the same area. They are mostly Egyptians with Arabic as a mother tongue. English is the second language of most of them yet with very high proficiency and few of them have French as their second language.

At BIS, we are proud to offer a robust academic program centered around the American Diploma, accredited by Cognia. Our curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation across core subjects, preparing students thoroughly for university studies and beyond. We follow the Common Core Standards in English and Math, ensuring consistency and depth in literacy and numeracy skills. In Sciences, we utilize the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), which emphasize inquiry-based learning, and the AERO standards in Social Studies, offering a comprehensive understanding of historical and cultural contexts.

Our high school curriculum includes Advanced Placement (AP) courses in both sciences and humanities, providing students with the opportunity to engage in college-level work, develop critical thinking skills, and prepare for the rigor of university studies. In addition, we offer a variety of courses tailored to meet the diverse requirements of universities, ensuring that each student can follow a path that aligns with their academic goals.

To support our students in meeting international standards, we prepare them for a range of standardized tests, including the ACT, EST, AP exams, as well as language certifications such as ILETS in English Language, DELF for French and FIT for German. Our program also includes MAP testing to help us track and support each student’s growth. Through thBedayia International School is also authorized to offer the diploma programme of the international Baccalaureate

Since 2019, Bedayia has proudly offered the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP), a globally recognized, rigorous academic pathway designed for students aged 16 to 19. This program fosters a holistic approach to education, developing students who are not only academically skilled but also internationally minded, culturally aware, and prepared to engage with complex, real-world issues.

The IB DP is highly respected by universities worldwide and is known to enhance students’ acceptance rates at top-tier institutions. Its comprehensive curriculum encourages depth and breadth of learning, requiring students to study a range of subjects across six groups: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and the Arts. In addition, students complete three core components unique to the IB DP:

1. **Theory of Knowledge (TOK)** – encouraging students to reflect on how knowledge is acquired and applied across disciplines.

2. **Extended Essay (EE)** – a 4,000-word independent research project that hones research, writing, and critical-thinking skills.

3. **Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)** – promoting personal growth and community involvement through extracurricular activities.

The IB Learner Profile, central to the IB philosophy, aims to develop students who are inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and reflective. These attributes help shape responsible, lifelong learners with the skills to excel in a rapidly changing global environment.

Graduating with an IB Diploma offers significant advantages in university admissions. The program’s reputation for academic rigor, emphasis on independent research, and development of strong time management and critical thinking skills make IB students highly attractive to admissions committees. Many universities offer college credit or advanced placement for students who excel in their IB courses, further preparing them for a smooth transition into higher education.

With a curriculum that goes beyond academics, the IB Diploma Programme at Bedayia equips students with the knowledge, skills, and character traits necessary for success in university and as future global citizens.
