At Bedayia International School, science experiences at the KG and early elementary levels are designed to be creative, interesting, and discovery oriented. Bedayia students will have an opportunity to touch, feel, explore and discover some aspects of an object and guess about some other aspects just as the adult scientist does. During this period of learning, a foundation for exploration and discovery is laid where each experience leads to a new one, expanding the child's range of awareness. These experiences will be directed towards helping the child understand and appreciate Allah's gifts to man in terms of the bounties of nature.
Experiences provided in Bedayia's science program will encourage natural inquisitiveness in children so that basic scientific understanding can be achieved. Each grades science program will emphasize the ability of the child to process science related information rather than the information itself. For example, steps involved in growing a plant are more important than an actual grown plant. Children want to know about the world around them, therefore we will guide them to discover the science in their environment.
The science curriculum will help children to develop skills of observing, describing, classifying, measuring, problem solving, inferring, predicting, and seeing relationships.the curriculum is carefully crafted to help teachers and support students to :
Develop Inquiry Skills : The program builds on three levels of inquiry- directed, guided and full. The student text book is designed to engage students in activities that build a strong science foundation and help students develop a full understanding of the inquiry process.
Develop Reading Skills : The text features pictured vocabulary words for students to build background plus target reading skills so teachers can teach students how to read science.
Connect To All Learners : Content leveled readers for every student edition chapter teach the same science concepts, vocabulary and reading skills at each student's reading level and allow the students to explore non-fiction material.
